Ben Avery shooting Range, Pistol Silhouette Range

Third annual ACWC Liveshoot at Ben Avery in North Phoenix.  


We do need a least 10 paying shooters @ $10 per shooter to pay for the range.  We will also have our monthly ACWC meeting at this time, too.  If you come for the meeting only, you need not pay the $10.


You are limited to weapons (original and replica) before the early 1900’s.  No full metal jacket ammo.  We will have a supply of Minnie Balls and 44-40 ammo.  


We will again play the infamous “Hand of Death” game and will have other games or awards.  


We will have our ACWC meeting at 1:30 pm at the Ben Avery range.

Boy Scouts Civil War Camporee

This is the Mesa District’s Boy Scouts Camporee at Camp Geronimo north of Payson.  They are expecting 500 boys to attend.  


There several planned demonstrations and contests among the boys including Civil War trivia, marching, Civil War tent pitching, and other activities.

Civil War Reenactments at Pioneer Living History Village

Pioneer Living History Village

The Village Green and surrounding grounds will once again reverberate to the sound of cannon-fire. Soldiers in Blue and Grey will face off in life-and-death confrontation, hoping for victory, praying for the chance to live another day.

Staged by the AZ Civil War Council, re-enactors will descend on Pioneer from all over the southwest to participate in battles and skirmishes during the two day event. In addition to 2 or 3 battles each day, visitors will be treated to short seminars illuminating the life of the average soldier during this epic time in our nation’s history. Learn about the weapons and their effectiveness. Walk into a Union or Confederate camp and chat with the men and women who had to suffer the privations and the primitive conditions it demanded.

Ft. Tuthill Civil War Reenactment

Civil War reenactment at Ft. Tuthill near Flagstaff.  Event is sponsored by the SWCWA.  


If you plan to attend as a reenactor, bring the Ft. Tuthill and Coconino County waiver with you and sign at the reenactor check-in/registration area when you arrive for the event.  The event begins on Saturday, but setup is available, and encouraged, on Friday beginning after 1:00pm.

The Mesilla 150th Civil War Commemoration Committee is preparing to stage an exciting

event that will showcase the history of the Mesilla Valley while engaging the current citizens and educating the future generations of the Mesilla Valley. A fun-filled three-day weekend is planned on the farm fields surrounding the historic Gadsden Museum. Demonstrations of authentic activities of the era, docents in period costume, and presentations by local experts to explain the significance of the events to the area and the nation are planned.

Moody’s Battery Cannon Live Fire

The Live Fire site is NW of Seeley CA which is due west of El Centro CA.


Take I-8 out of El Centro to Drew Rd (Exit 107)

Go North to Evan Hewes Hwy

Turn West and go about 2 miles to Huff Rd.

Turn north and go 6.5 Miles to Wheeler Rd

Turn West and you will see the site off to the right.

There should be a large round circle drawn on the mountain that is our 600 yd target.


There will be a 10 pd Confederate Rifled Parrott and a 6 pound smooth bore.


We will be Confederates, "Moody's Battery"


If you go to the "Live Fire" you can man one of the canons at the Yuma event on Jan 26-27.

Our Hearts were Touched by Fire: The American Civil War

1861 - 1865

Fountain Hills, AZ

This is an hour and one half concert of the Music, Poems and Speeches of the Civil War.  It will be held at the Fountain Hills Community Center Grand Ballroom .


Every year there are large audiences for the Christmas and Spring Concerts and this year there will be something special while we are still in the 150th anniversary of the Civil War.


The scope of the concert will cover the decade from 1855 to 1865 with performances of music, poetry, diaries, speeches and personal correspondence from this critical period of American history.


The concert will be a one hour to ninety minutes in length.   The story portion of the concert will be performed by members of the Community Theater and selected community leaders.  The music by the performing arts groups named above.


History of the Soldier

This annual event offers visitors a living history timeline of military and civilian encampments from the Revolutionary War to the present day. Activities include flag raising ceremonies, military demonstrations, a fashion show, games for children and an 1870s-era baseball game.


Kid’s Day is Friday, April 12th.
